This little subplot is something we've seen countless times but it's handled so well here that it's just like you're watching it for the first time. The same can be said with Harold and a female neighbor who he has a crush on but is too shy to talk to. Some of the more charming humor comes from the cameo by Harris who begins to crave some sex and the way it plays out is just hilarious. One of the most famous moments happen when the duo think they're about to score with a couple hot girls but they end up having to hid in the girl's bathroom and just so happens walks in the two girls who have a certain bathroom issue. The comedy in the film ranges from vulgar to just downright charming at other times. Along the way we get all sorts of short vignettes that include the duo running into some racist jerks, getting attacked by a raccoon, having to put up with some girls with diarrhea problems and they even run into Neil Patrick Harris hitchhiking. The film doesn't really have much of a story with the exception that our two heroes are stoned, have the munchies and have to drive to a White Castle. I mean, after all it's just another stoner comedy mixed in with a road picture but Cho and Penn are so good in their parts that you can't help but laugh at each adventure the duo find themselves in. HAROLD & KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE certainly isn't anything original. The stoner comedy has been going on for quite a while now and each film that deals with potheads have the same jokes but for some reason when you have the right actors in the parts things just work no matter how many times you've seen it. Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004) *** (out of 4) Stoner pals Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) smokes some good weird and get a craving for some White Castle so they head out for the restaurant but instead run into one issue after another.
